Grain & Texture: Interlocked grain with a fine, even texture. The mottled figure creates a block or quilted pattern that shifts and moves under changing light. Very consistent and uniform.
Workability: Generally easy to work, though interlocked grain can cause tearout during planing. Glues, stains, and finishes well. The silica content can dull cutting edges more quickly than most species.
