Grain & Texture: Typically has a straight, even grain with a medium to coarse texture. The "figure" is a shimmering ripple effect across the surface.
Workability: Cutting & Machining: Generally easy to work with. Raw veneer can be cut with a sharp utility knife or scissors. However, the interlocked grain in figured sheets may cause some tear-out during heavy machining. Finishing: Readily accepts stains and finishes. It is often finished with a clear semi-gloss or gloss varnish to enhance the depth of its figure. Gluing: Bonds well with standard adhesives; PSA (peel-and-stick) and paper-backed options are common for simplified installation.
