Redwood Burl

Redwood Burl Veneer from Rosebud Veneer and Plywood This exceptional redwood burl veneer panel displays the breathtaking natural phenomenon that makes burl one of the most coveted materials in architectural millwork. The face reveals a dense, swirling constellation of tight burl eyes — rounded, nucleated clusters ranging from deep russet and burnt sienna to warm salmon and pale blush — scattered across the entire surface in an organic, almost rhythmic pattern. The interstitial grain between the eyes flows in soft, undulating waves of creamy amber and copper, creating a living tapestry of color and texture that no two panels will ever replicate. The overall tone is a rich, warm terracotta-adjacent palette with considerable depth and variation. The burl eyes themselves vary subtly in size and density, with some regions of the panel displaying tighter, more concentrated clusters while others open into broader sweeps of flowing figure. This variation creates a natural visual movement across the face — a quality that translates beautifully at architectural scale, whether applied to wall paneling, reception desks, elevator cabs, or custom cabinetry. The surface character is unmistakably three-dimensional even in flat veneer form, suggesting tremendous depth beneath a finished, clear-coated surface. At Rosebud Veneer and Plywood in Louisville, Kentucky, our redwood burl veneer is available for specification by architects, interior designers, and custom millwork professionals. With thirty years of expertise in architectural veneer, we understand how to match, sequence, and book-match burl faces to maximize their dramatic natural patterning across large installations.
