Grain / TextureEtimoe often has a very tight, consistent "mottle" or "block" figure. Etimoe figure looks like rippled velvet or expensive fabric.
WorkabilityModerately difficult to work due to interlocked grain. The fuming process does not affect workability. Requires sharp tools to avoid tearout on figured areas. Takes finish exceptionally well — the smoky depth becomes dramatic under lacquer or oil.
UsesFor the client wants "Old Money" luxury—dark, moody, and expensive, but not "loud."
